Archeon

Find out all about the Living Past of the Netherlands in Archeon. Experience daily life in three periods: the Prehistory (8800 - 12 BC), the Roman Period (12 BC - AD 406) and the Middle Ages (AD 406 - 1350). There are 43 accurate, full size reconstructions. All based on archaelogical finds in the Netherlands and they are inhabited by so-called Archeo-interpreters, they will show you what life was like in their name.

Amsterdam

Rijksmuseum Amsterdam

With close on one million objects and Amsterdam s Rijksmuseum is the largest museum of art and history in the Netherlands. It is perhaps best known for its collection of 17th-century Dutch masters, with twenty Rembrandts and many other highlights of the period, including works by Vermeer, Frans Hals and Jan Steen.

Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

Over the last few years, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam has expanded its collection through the acquisition of a number of extremely important works by artists such as Mike Kelley, Neo Rauch, David Goldblatt and Atelier Van Lieshout.

Artis Zoo

Artis is a fascinating zoo. In an area of 14 hectares around 700 species of animals provide a magnificent overview of the entire animal kingdom. Anne Frank Huis

The former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her diary, is now a well-known museum. It is located in the centre of Amsterdam. The museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the war. Anne Franks diary is among the original objects on display.

Zaanse Schans

The Zaanse Schans is situated just north of Amsterdam. There is plenty to see and do at this historic and typically Dutch location; serveral museums to visit, old traditional crafts to see such as cheese and clog making and a pewter workshop, working windmills producing paint, oil, wood and mustard, attractive little shopping streets lined with authentic green painted wooden houses.

Linnaeushof

Europa’s Largest Playground. Linnaeushof is situated in the village of Bennebroek. It is a recreation park where you can spend a whole day enjoying more than 350 attractions and, if the weather permits, a water playground. There also is a restaurant with outdoor cafes and a souvenir/toy shop.

Theme: Famous Books

On Saturday April 24th at 9.30 hours, the annual Flower Parade will leave Noordwijk to travel its 40-km route, along the main roads, to arrive in Haarlem at about 21:00 hours. The procession will comprise of 20 large floats and more than 30 decorated luxury cars, interspersed with marching bands. There will be plenty of space on the roadside for the hundreds of thousands of spectators who always congregate along the route.

Legermuseum

The Museum contains and manages more than 500,000 objects. These include weapons and uniforms, but also personal books, handwritten documents, paintings, prints and photos; the Museum also has a large collection of vehicles, including tanks, and even rockets the Second World War V-weapons.

Leiden

Stedelijk Museum De Lakenhal

Since 1874 the Municipal Museum of Leiden has been housed in the Lakenhal, the former

clothmakers' hall built in 1640 by Arent van ' Gravesande. This is where the famed Leiden cloth was inspected and where the Governors and Syndics of the cloth industry held their meetings. Reminders of the textile industry which was so important to Leiden can be seen in the historical collection.

When walking through Leiden it's rich history still seems very much alive. This is where

Rembrandt was born and developed his painting skills and where Clusius brought the first Dutch tulips into flower. Leiden has 12 museums, all worth a visit. The priceless and unique collections on show enjoy international fame. Leiden's atmosphere is largely determined by the first university in Holland (1575), which has developed into a world-famous centre of science, while its many students contribute to the lively and convivial atmosphere in the city.

Recreatiecentrum De Noordduinen (the North Dunes) offers you everything you need for a richly varied holiday. The name already gives the location away - this campsite is in the dunes north of Katwijk aan Zee, only 200 metres from the beach! The stretch of dunes between Katwijk and Noordwijk is a beautiful area, ideal for nature lovers and anyone in search of peace and quiet. It is a place where you can walk, cycle, picnic and jog undisturbed. The sheltered location in the dunes between luscious greenery gives the campsite a pleasant, relaxed feeling. There's also the North Sea which has the broadest sandy beaches in the Netherlands, just at your doorstep!

Recreatiecentrum De Zuidduinen

Recreatiecentrum De Zuidduinen is a small and cozy campsite in a magnificent location. Step out of your caravan or tent, cross one row of dunes and the North Sea is at your feet!

The site itself lies in an official nature reserve area. Rest, tranquility and a phantastic species of flora and fauna are the ingredients of the immediate surroundings. The center of the village of KATWIJK is a mere ten minutes walk from the site.

De Zuidduinen is open from April 1st till September 30th.
